I tested the Ameerpet → Hitec City commute 5 times each by metro and bus at ~8:45 am, tracking door-to-door time. Metro: ~32–35 min on average, very consistent. Includes 5–6 min wait, ride, and ~12–13 min total walking on both ends. Bus: ~50–58 min on average, highly variable (best ~45 min, worst >60 min due to traffic near Cyber Towers). Bus is cheaper per trip, but a monthly metro pass narrows the cost gap. For me, metro’s reliability and lower stress were worth it. Caveat: If either end isn’t near a metro station and needs a long walk or extra auto/cab, bus can be comparable or better since it may drop you closer. Rule of thumb: If both start and end are within ~10–12 min walk of stations, metro wins on time and consistency. Otherwise, map your exact door-to-door route for both before assuming metro is faster.
