In February I started drinking a full glass of water the second I wake up. Before tea, before my phone, before anything.
I'd read about it 100 times and always thought it was one of those things people on Instagram say.
What got me to try was a blood test. The doctor said my kidneys were fine but I was dehydrated most days.
I drink about 4 cups of tea a day and very little water. She looked at me like I was a child.
So now there's a steel bottle on my bedside table every night. I fill it before I sleep.
Morning, I sit up, drink the whole thing, then I'm allowed to touch the phone. That's the deal.
First week it felt like a chore. I'd forget, or I'd drink half and leave it.
Week 3 it just became a thing I do, like brushing my teeth. Didn't have to think about it.
I won't say it changed my life. That's too much. But I don't get that 11 am headache anymore.
The afternoon slump at work is less too. I used to need a second tea at 3 just to stay awake.
And the phone part is the real win. I used to wake up and read news for 30 minutes in bed.
Now by the time I've drunk the water, I'm up, and I just don't bother.
What's a small habit that stuck for you? I'm looking for the next one.
Something tiny. I fail at anything that needs more than 2 minutes a day.
My brother tried to copy me and gave up after 4 days. Said it makes him go to the bathroom too much.
He's not wrong about that, but still. 4 days, that's all he managed.
