I charge my phone on the left side of the bed. Always have, ever since I moved
into this room. The socket on the right works fine. Same wire, same distance from the pillow. I've
checked. Last month my cousin stayed over and plugged the charger in on the right for me. She
thought she was being kind. I woke up at 3 and checked 4 times where my phone was.
It was fine. It was charging, it was right there, 20 centimetres from my head. I
still couldn't sleep until I picked it up and carried it across. Then I was out in
a minute. My cousin asked why I'd rearranged everything in the dark. I told her it just
felt wrong. She said that's not a reason. I said I know, and went back to sleep.
My mother thinks it comes from our old house. The only socket there was on the left
of my bed. I don't remember that, but I'd believe it. I was 9 and I slept
next to that socket for years. I've tried to switch 3 times now. The longest I lasted
was 2 nights, and both were terrible. The phone is on the left as I type this.
Nobody touch it. My brother thinks it's funny and tested me last Sunday. He moved the charger while I
was at the shop. I came back, saw it on the wrong side, and stood there for a good
10 seconds. He was laughing so much he couldn't breathe. I moved it back, very calmly, and said nothing.
Then I charged his phone to 100 and unplugged it just before he needed it. We're even.
