Fair warning, Tabrez, this forum gets addictive. Reply during meetings very carefully. I've done it more than once and so far nobody on my team has noticed, or nobody's said anything. The shoutbox on the home page is quick enough to use between tasks and calls, takes ten seconds. Welcome, and use it responsibly, my friend. Or don't, I won't tell.

Short intro is fine, but add a line about what you enjoy outside work, anything at all. Cricket, movies, food, travel, any of those starts a conversation and nobody here judges your taste. People are friendly and replies come fast, sometimes within minutes, when you give them something to answer. So what do you do on weekends, Tabrez? Start there.

Another IT guy here. I work at a small software firm and use this place to unwind after long days. The Programming section has decent threads if you feel like talking code. It's not heavy on the technical side, so beginners and students can follow along fine.

Pure new, ha. Good way to put it, everyone starts there. Take your time and read a few threads before you post your own. I did the same for two weeks. The tone here is relaxed most days, nothing like some forums I've been thrown out of. Say hi in a couple of threads and see how it goes, Tabrez.

TCS is huge, so you probably know people across teams already, or at least their names from emails. If you're on the Hyderabad campus, I'd guess Gachibowli or Madhapur, maybe Kokapet. Which office and what kind of project, if you're okay sharing? No pressure either way. It helps people in similar jobs give you advice that fits, like transport tips or switching ideas.

Don't be shy about starting your own thread. Everyone was new once. Starting one is easier than you think.
