🔄 Just moved back to Hyderabad after 10 years

After a decade away, finally moved back to Hyderabad this summer. Still getting used to how much has changed, some areas are unrecognizable. Good to be home though.

A lot of returning families go for Gachibowli or Kompally now, others stay near Tolichowki or Malakpet. No wrong choice really, the commute decides most things, from rent to sleep. Welcome back, Khaja. One tip from someone who came back recently: update your address proofs early. Paperwork takes longer than you'd expect, especially the gas connection and bank changes, mine dragged on for six weeks. Do it in the first month and you'll save yourself some stress. Trust me. Enjoy the weather too, the city looks its best at this time of year.

You were gone ten years and still came back, which says something good about the city to me. I know people who left for the same stretch and decided to stay abroad for good, my cousin among them. Welcome home. Areas being unrecognisable is what I hear from everyone who comes back. My uncle returned after fifteen years and got lost near Kondapur, which used to be mostly empty land.

Which country were you in for the decade, if you don't mind me asking? Lots of members moved abroad and came back, and the NRI section has useful threads on settling in again. Ten years is long, and Hyderabad changed more than most cities in that time. Hitech City feels like a different place compared to my first job days, I used to walk past empty plots there. The metro makes short trips easier if you live along one of its lines, though it gets packed at nine.
