There's a drain cover missing on the main road near LB Nagar. It's been like that
for about 2 weeks. It's on a stretch where a lot of people walk in the evening,
and the streetlights there are poor. The first time I passed I almost stepped straight into it.
A shopkeeper shouted just in time. Since then I've seen 2 other close calls. A bike swerved hard
and nearly got hit by the one behind. Someone put a broken chair over the gap as a warning.
It works a little in daylight. At night it's useless. It isn't reflective, and with the
lights being what they are you can't see it. I called the GHMC helpline about it.
They took the location and a complaint number and said it would be checked. That
was over a week ago and I haven't seen anyone since. I keep thinking about
how a pothole is annoying, but an open hole in a walking path is different.
Someone could break a leg, or worse, if a child steps in while the parents are busy with shopping.
I really don't want this to get attention only after somebody gets hurt. That feels like how it always
goes. I walk past there with my phone torch on now, which looks silly, but I'm not going to stop.
If someone knows how to flag something like this as urgent, please tell me how.
Is there a ward office person who answers? I'd happily go in and talk to
someone. Also, has anyone noticed other missing covers around the LB Nagar side of the road?
I might make a small list if there are a few, and take it along with me.
