Every evening around 6:30, just when people are heading home, 5 or 6 buffaloes plant themselves on the road.
This is near my colony in Nacharam. Cars slow to walking pace and bikes squeeze through any gap.
The owner is never around until much later. Two lanes, completely blocked, and nobody is in a hurry.
I've lived here almost 4 years and this only became regular in the last 6 months.
Before that it was maybe 1 or 2 stray cows near the garbage bins, never a whole herd.
Last week I nearly missed picking up my daughter from tuition because the road was shut for 15 minutes.
The auto I was in had to reverse and take a lane barely wide enough for one vehicle.
The driver said it happens almost daily now and he plans his route around it.
Someone told me a small dairy nearby lets the cattle roam loose in the evening after milking.
I can't confirm that. It might just be a guess that people keep repeating.
A GHMC cattle van drove past once a few months ago and didn't even stop.
The same buffaloes were back the next evening like nothing had happened.
What gets me is that nobody complains. We adjust, like we do around potholes or a dead streetlight.
I don't want to sound harsh about the animals or whoever owns them. I like buffaloes fine.
I just want to know if an area can get this sorted through a complaint.
Or does it become part of daily life here for good? Has anyone got it fixed anywhere?
