I have had the same DTH connection for almost five years now,
and for most of that time the monthly bill stayed fairly predictable,
give or take a rupee or two depending on which channel pack I picked that month. Over the last three or four months though,
the bill has been jumping around in a way that genuinely confuses me,
sometimes forty rupees more than usual with no clear explanation on the app or the SMS receipt. I called customer care about it twice.
The first time I was told it was a "regulatory pass through charge" that gets added on top of the base pack,
which is apparently standard now but was never explained clearly when I originally signed up years ago. The second call,
a different representative told me it was because one of my selected channels moved into a different bouquet tier,
which meant a small price adjustment automatically applied without any notification sent to me directly. What bothers me more than the actual rupee amount,
which is honestly not huge, is how difficult it is to actually see a clean breakdown of what I am paying for each month.
The app shows a total, and if you dig through three or four different menus you can sometimes find a rough split,
but it changes format often enough that I never fully trust it. My neighbor mentioned switching to one of the streaming bundles instead,
cutting the DTH connection entirely, since between two or three subscriptions she is now paying
less overall and gets more control over what she actually watches. I am tempted,
mostly because the unpredictability of the DTH bill each month has started to genuinely annoy me more than the amount itself does.
Is anyone else dealing with this same kind of billing confusion, or is it just my particular provider being unclear about it?
Would also be curious if the switch to streaming bundles has actually worked out well for people who made it recently.
