💬 Garbage not collected in our colony for 3 days

Nobody has collected garbage in our colony in Moosapet since Monday. The bins are overflowing and it's starting to smell. It's been humid, so that doesn't help. Stray dogs drag the trash around the lane every morning. We called the local office twice. Nobody picked up the first time and the second call just kept ringing. I spoke to a few neighbours yesterday evening and apparently it isn't only our lane that's affected. The whole block behind the community hall has the same problem, and nobody knows why. One uncle said the usual garbage truck driver has been on leave and nobody sent a replacement. If that's true, the whole thing depends on one person turning up every single day. Nobody told us anything, so we only found out when the bins started overflowing on Tuesday. The smell is getting to the kids who play in the open ground nearby. 2 families have stopped letting their small children play outside in the evening. Somebody spotted a rat near the bins yesterday, and that's never a good sign. Flies everywhere too. It's gone past annoying and is turning into a health problem for the whole lane. This morning I uploaded 2 photos on the complaint app to show how bad it's got. Maybe if a few of us file together it gets noticed faster than one call from one person. Does anyone know who looks after sanitation for our zone? The general helpline hasn't helped us at all. Or is it just our street that got missed this week? Tell me if yours did too.

A rat near the bins is what would worry me most, because that turns into a health problem quickly. Meanwhile I'd ask the uncle who said the driver was on leave if he knows who covers the route. Sometimes the supervisor lives in the area and sorts it out faster than any app complaint. Keep your photos with dates on them, they help when someone finally asks what happened.

Ours went through the same thing last monsoon. 5 days without the truck coming at all. Everyone kept saying someone must have complained already. Nobody had, it turned out. Once 3 of us filed on the app the same evening, the truck showed up in 2 days. So even if it feels pointless, file it, and ask your neighbours to do the same.

Same thing happened in our lane in the summer. The truck just stopped coming for 4 days. Turned out the regular driver had gone to his village and nobody was covering his route. We all sent photos to the ward office on one day, and a truck came the next morning. One complaint gets ignored, but 10 on the same day are a lot harder to ignore.
