There was a function hall near our colony last weekend and the music ran past midnight. Not
just a little past. I looked at my phone at 12:40 and it was still going full
volume. This isn't the first time. Every time that hall hosts a wedding, we get the same
thing. My father has an early shift and my daughter had a school test the next morning.
Around 11 I called the police control room and told them where the noise was coming from.
Someone did come, but it took a long time, and the function was almost over by then.
I don't know if they told the hall anything. The speakers went off about 20
minutes later. I'm not against weddings. Nobody wants a silent colony, and people should enjoy their
big day. A neighbour told me it's better to also file a written complaint with the
pollution board. His idea is that calls disappear, but a written record with a date stays
on file. I haven't tried it yet and I don't even know if it makes any
difference later. It feels like the hall just waits for us to get tired of complaining.
My question is simple. Has anyone here filed a complaint about the same
hall again and again? Did it change anything for the next function, or
did they carry on exactly as before? I'm also wondering if the whole
lane should send one complaint together instead of 5 separate calls. Last weekend
was bad enough that I'm ready to knock on doors and collect names.
