Barricades showed up overnight on the main road in Banjara Hills a couple of weeks
ago. I almost cheered. The stretch near the signal has had craters for over a year,
and it got much worse after the last monsoon. I wrote 2 emails to the
ward office last year, and a few neighbours called in complaints on the app. Nothing moved.
Nobody even replied, apart from an automatic message saying it was received. Then a biker slipped
near the signal and broke his wrist, and a clip of it went round our WhatsApp groups.
Work started soon after. I don't know if that was the reason, but the timing felt too
neat. It shouldn't take an accident to get a road fixed, but I'll take it. Small win.
They've dug up about half the stretch and put down fresh gravel, so it's 1 lane each
way for now. Peak hours are a mess. Autos and cars squeeze past each other, and last
evening the jam reached the flyover. I'm hoping it's temporary while they lay the new surface. I
just want it finished properly this time. Last time they did only 1 section near the junction
and left the rest alone for 6 months. I'm still annoyed about that one, and I think
about it whenever I pass that spot. The shopkeepers nearby keep asking each other when it'll be done.
They have deliveries coming in and no space to park. If anyone has heard a completion date from the
workers on site, please share it here. I asked a man in an orange vest yesterday and he said
"soon". That could mean anything. I'll keep walking past it every single morning and report back here if anything changes.
