No water at all for 2 days now in our part of Mehdipatnam. Is it planned maintenance or a pipe problem?
Tankers are asking almost double what they normally charge. Some take advance booking and then don't turn up.
One man told my neighbour he'd come at 9 in the morning. He arrived near 2 in the afternoon.
By then half our lane had given up on him and found another one.
Our building has no lift. The aunties on the third and fourth floors can't carry buckets up.
A few of us started a small rotation. Whoever is home in the morning helps the older residents first.
It isn't much, but it works. I carried 6 buckets up yesterday and my arms are still sore.
Nobody complains about it though, which is really nice to see on a lane like ours.
I called the water board office yesterday. I waited about 40 minutes on hold before someone picked up.
They told me there's no maintenance planned in our area and that they'd send someone to check the pipeline.
Nobody has come since. I keep looking out of the window for a white van or a man with a spanner.
It's frustrating to have no idea if this is a 2 day thing or a week.
It's hard to plan anything. I couldn't do laundry, and cooking has been a bit of a puzzle.
If anyone has a direct number for the water board that gets answered, please tell me.
And if it's a bigger pipe issue, I'd like to know early so I can budget for tankers.
Otherwise we'll just keep getting a surprise every time one pulls up.
