I finally built my own PC last weekend, after months of watching YouTube videos and being scared to start.
My budget was around 55000 rupees, for coding, a little video editing and some gaming now and then. I
walked around the SP Road and Sultan Bazar shops for a day and checked online prices on my phone.
Quick answer for people who ask if it's still worth going there: yes, if you
do your homework first. Several shopkeepers came close to the online price when I showed them
the number on my screen. My best saving was a Ryzen 5 5600 and B550
motherboard combo. RAM and SSD cost about the same as online. They fitted the processor and
put on the thermal paste for me, which made my first build much easier. I
was careful with the power supply, because a few shops push brands nobody has heard of.
So decide the exact model numbers before you go, and don't let anyone upsell you at the counter.
Assembly took me about 2 hours. The motherboard manual saved me, I read it twice before touching anything. The
shop gave a GST bill for everything without me asking, and each major part had its own warranty card.
The motherboard and power supply came with 2 years of warranty, also noted in
the shop's own record. I've been using it for 2 weeks now. It boots much
faster than my old pre-built. Compile times for my coding work dropped a lot. Video
exports are quicker too, though I haven't pushed it hard. After adding up the final
bills, the shop route came out a bit cheaper than online, because of shipping. I'd
do it this way again if you're in Hyderabad and have a budget like mine.
