🖥️ Graphics card prices feel completely unreasonable right now, anyone else holding off?

Been trying to build a new PC for the past couple of months, mostly for some light video editing work alongside regular use, and the graphics card portion of that budget alone has become genuinely frustrating to plan around. A card that I remember being priced reasonably just a year or so back has jumped up noticeably, and even the lower end options that would have been considered budget friendly before now eat up a much bigger chunk of the overall build cost than they used to. Asked around at a couple of shops in the computer market, one shopkeeper mentioned something about global chip supply issues and increased demand from other uses driving prices up generally, though I am honestly not sure how much of that is accurate information versus just a convenient explanation for higher prices regardless of the actual cause. Considered going with an older generation card instead to save some money, apparently still handles most regular tasks fine and the price difference compared to the newest generation is significant enough to matter for my specific budget, though I do wonder if that older card will start feeling limited sooner than a newer one would for whatever editing software updates come out over the next couple of years. Part of me is tempted to just wait a few more months hoping prices settle back down somewhat, but there is no real guarantee that actually happens rather than prices just staying elevated indefinitely or even creeping up further from here, which makes waiting feel like a bit of a gamble either way. Anyone else in the middle of planning a build right now dealing with the same pricing frustration, and did waiting it out actually pay off for you or did you end up just buying at whatever the current price happened to be? Would help to know if patience is actually worth it here or if this is just the new normal price range going forward.
