🛡️ Screen protector or tempered glass, which one lasts?

I bought a new phone last week and the shop guy already tried to sell me 3 different protectors. Plastic film for 100 rupees, tempered glass for 300, and something called military grade for 700. I said let me think. He looked at me like I'd insulted his whole family. On my last phone I went through 2 plastic protectors in just a few months. The first one started peeling at the edges in 4 days. Dust got under it and I could see a bubble. The second one lasted longer, but keys in the same pocket left a long scratch right across the middle. I saw it every time the screen was on. It drove me a little mad. So the cheap film wasn't cheap at all, because I bought it twice. Glass sounds better, but I've also heard glass can crack more easily on a drop than plastic. My friend's glass shattered on a tile floor and the phone screen under it was fine. Another friend says his cracked and the phone cracked too. So I don't know what to believe. It feels like the brand matters more than the type, and I can't tell brands apart. Touch feel is another thing. Some people say glass makes the screen feel slightly slow. I don't want to lose the smooth feel of a new screen, because that's why I bought it. Money isn't the problem. I just don't want to do this a third time. What do you use right now, and has it saved your phone from a real fall?

Update, ended up clearing cache and freeing storage like suggested and the hanging stopped completely, appreciate the quick help here rather than having to book a technician visit for something this simple.

Tempered glass is the better pick for daily use, in my experience. The cheap film I tried scratched in a month. The ones that crack easily are usually no name brands from roadside stalls. Get one from a known brand and ask the shop to fit it, because bubbles come from dust on the screen. Touch feel is slightly different, but after a day I stopped noticing it.
