I've been thinking about Avengers: Doomsday all week. It's out this December, and I've already planned my first
day. Robert Downey Jr is playing Doctor Doom, from what I've read. Not Iron Man. The villain. That's
a strange choice. He was Tony Stark for over 10 years. I had to read the news twice.
My dad, who watched all the Marvel films with me, said, so he's the bad guy now? He sounded
betrayed. Last weekend I rewatched Infinity War and Endgame, back to back. Took 6 hours and 2 packets of
chips. Thanos works because they spend 2 films building him up. By the time he snaps, you believe it.
Doom doesn't have that runway, as far as I know. He has to show up and be
scary fast. Maybe RDJ can do that. He's got the screen presence, and he knows how to hold
a room. But Tony Stark's voice is all over him in my head. I keep hearing the jokes.
If he makes a sarcastic comment in his first scene, I'll laugh and the villain will be dead.
I want to be scared of him. Does anybody else worry about that, or is it just me?
Anyway, I'm booking first day, first show at AMB or PVR the moment tickets open. Last time I
tried, the app froze and I got a seat in the front row. Neck pain for 2 days. Who's
coming with me? And be honest, can Doom beat Thanos as the best villain? I say Thanos for now.
I'm open to being proven wrong in December.
