Rewatched RRR on Saturday night, first time since the theatre. It ran about 3 hours and I never touched my phone.
In the hall I was just shouting and clapping with the crowd. At home I could notice smaller things.
My son sat through it with me. He'd only seen clips on his phone, and he kept saying, wait, go back.
I told him this is Hyderabad's own film, and he rolled his eyes. He still stayed to the end.
The shoulder fight introduction is still my favourite scene. Nothing else in the film beats that entry for me.
I've seen it maybe 6 times by now. Every time my arms go up at the same moment, like a reflex.
My son watched my face instead of the screen. He said it was better than the scene itself.
The interval fight gets the goosebumps too. I know it's coming and it still works, which is annoying.
This time I noticed the village scenes at the start. Small things in the background, pots, tools, kids running.
Nothing looked new. It all looked used, like people really lived there. Somebody put in a lot of work.
I also liked how the friendship between the two leads is built early, before the big action starts.
By the time things go wrong between them, you care. In the theatre I missed that part completely.
And yes, Naatu Naatu is still fun. It won the Oscar, and I still smile typing that.
I remember where I was when the news came, at my desk, refreshing a page with 4 colleagues.
Someone brought sweets the next day. We had no idea whether to clap or just eat.
What's your favourite scene? I'm curious if anyone picks a quiet one over the fights.
