I keep seeing posts about Salman Khan's new film Galwan, so here's what I've picked up. Not all of it is confirmed.
From what I've heard, it's about the soldiers of the 2020 clash in Galwan Valley, and he plays an army man.
I'm in Houston, so I only get the news second hand, from WhatsApp groups and a few YouTube videos.
There are a few photos of him going around. I can't say for sure where it's from.
People say he looks very different in it, thinner and serious. I can't tell from one photo.
Some say he trained for months. Some say it's a normal action film. I don't know who to believe.
There's no trailer yet, at least I haven't found one. Same for a release date, nobody has said anything official.
Someone in my cousin's group said early next year, but that's only a message in a group chat.
Here's what I hope for though. I hope they show the soldiers' families, not only the fighting.
I read somewhere that the story also covers the families back home. If true, that would be good to see.
A story like this can go wrong if it's only loud scenes and big dialogues. I really hope it doesn't.
It's a real event where real people lost their lives. I think that deserves a careful film.
As for Salman himself, I've watched his films since I was a kid in Hyderabad, mostly in a hall with whistles.
Serious roles are a different thing though. I'd like to see him try without the usual swagger.
Maybe it works, maybe it doesn't. I'll watch it either way, probably the first weekend if I can.
What do you all think? Can he carry a serious role, or will the star image get in the way?
