September looks crazy for releases. Mirzapur: The Movie, Haiwaan, Sardar 2, The Paradise, Resident Evil, and more
behind them. I have maybe 2 free weekends and a wallet that says 1. So I'll have
to pick. Right now I'm leaning toward Mirzapur and The Paradise, in that order, though I keep flipping.
I've watched Mirzapur from its first season, so seeing it on a big screen feels
like a reunion. The Paradise has had less noise around it. I saw a short
clip and it looked moody and dusty. Sometimes the quiet one in a crowded month
ends up being the one people talk about. Or it flops and I lose a Saturday.
I know how this works. Haiwaan and Sardar 2 I'd see only if someone drags me.
Sequels and horror are hit or miss for me. A good one is great, a bad
one ruins my night. I had that last year with a horror film that scared me
for 10 minutes and bored me for 2 hours. The booking part is the other fight.
Opening weekend means a loud crowd and long queues for tickets. Waiting a week
means an easy booking but spoilers from my cousin's WhatsApp group. So what's your plan?
Which ones are you booking and which are you skipping on purpose? I'm trying to
decide between opening night with the crowd and a calm show the week after.
Last time I did opening night, a man talked on the phone through half the
film. This time I might choose the calm one. Tell me if I'm being boring.
