Assalamu alaikum everyone. My name is Zainab and I am writing this with a very heavy heart. I never thought I would share something so personal in public, but I have no one left to turn to and I really need honest advice from this community.
We were a happy family of six. My husband, me, and our four children. My husband worked in Jeddah and he was a very loving and responsible man. Whatever little we had, we built it together, and our children were his whole world.
This past Eid holidays, we decided to travel from Jeddah to Dammam to visit my sister. We were all so excited for the trip. But around 200 km before Dammam, on the highway, at about 2 am, our car met with a terrible accident. We were rushed to a nearby hospital, and there my husband died on the spot. I still cannot believe I am writing these words.
The children and I were admitted for treatment and stayed in the hospital for 13 days before we were released. After that I went to my sister's home in Dammam and stayed with her for about a month. During that time my husband's company and his sponsor helped us a lot. They completed all the formalities and paid his full end of service settlement. After a month, we finally came back to India.
Today life is slowly moving. My children are studying in a local school here. By Allah's mercy we have two houses that give us some rent every month, and that is how we are surviving. It is not much, but it keeps my children fed and in school.
But now a new pain has started. My husband's relatives, especially his younger brother and his sister, keep coming to my home and creating fights. They are demanding 5 lakhs from me, out of the end of service money my husband earned for his own children. They threaten me openly. I have no brothers, no parents, no one to stand beside me and speak for me.
I am a widow trying to raise four children alone. That money is my children's future, it is not something to be handed over to people who only come to fight and frighten us.
So I am asking everyone here honestly: what should I do? How can I protect myself and my children from this harassment? Has anyone faced something similar? Any advice, whether legal or personal, would mean the world to me right now. May Allah bless you all for reading this.
