💬 Police clearance from India stuck for 10 weeks, PR on hold

My PR application is complete except for 1 thing, the police clearance certificate from India. The passport office portal has shown it as processing for almost 10 weeks now. I've called their helpline twice. Both times I got the same line, please keep waiting, it's in process. Nobody could tell me why it's slow or give any date at all. My immigration consultant here says he's seeing this delay more and more with his other clients. That's nice to hear, but it doesn't make the waiting any easier. Everything else in my file is ready and sitting there, which makes it worse somehow. I check the portal every morning before work, and it says the same thing every time. There's a money side to this too. Some job and housing decisions here depend on when the PR comes. I've been putting off a lease decision for 6 weeks because of it. My manager asked when I'd know my status for a project plan, and I had no answer. I said soon, which we both knew was basically a guess. In a local community group, 2 other people said they were stuck with the same clearance recently. Maybe there's a backlog on that end, and my file isn't flagged for anything. I hope so. Mostly I'm just venting, since I doubt anyone can speed this up. If you've gone through a similar wait recently, how long did yours take to finally clear?

Mine took 16 weeks in total, which is longer than the other 2 timelines people mentioned here. The range looks wide, and I think it comes down to luck with whichever batch you land in. Try to plan around the longer end of that range instead of the shorter one. It saved me some disappointment, and I stopped checking the portal every single morning.

Called that same helpline three separate times during my own wait and got a slightly different flavor of the exact same non answer each time, one representative even seemed to be reading directly off a script judging by how identical the phrasing was word for word.

Went through almost the identical ten week limbo with my own PR application two years back, ended up being closer to fourteen weeks total before it finally cleared without any real explanation for the delay ever being offered. Frustrating as it is, from what I have seen in similar threads it does eventually clear, just apparently on its own unpredictable timeline rather than anything tied to your application.
