My Iqama renewal took 2 months this year. Last time it was 10 days, so I didn't plan for this.
First they rejected my papers because of a formatting thing. Then an attestation stamp had expired and nobody told me.
Every rejection meant going back to the start of the queue, every single time, like the first day.
And my sponsor's office just went quiet. Emails sat there for days with nothing, not even an auto reply.
I had to go to their office 3 times just so someone would open my file and look at it.
Meanwhile my expiry date is getting closer and closer. You start thinking about checkpoints, the bank, everything.
A friend who does HR at another company in Jeddah said it's like this everywhere this year.
Some new verification step got added, so everyone's stuck in the same line. Didn't make me feel better.
Worst part was every call gave a different answer. One day it's done, it's done, wait 2 days.
Next day there's a pending document. What document? The one nobody mentioned before, apparently.
So I started keeping a folder. Paper copies of every receipt, every stamp, screenshots of every email.
If anyone asks what I submitted and when, I pull it out. Should have done that from day 1.
Also my own fault partly. I started late because the last 3 renewals were quick and I got lazy.
Won't do that again. Next time I start 3 months early, minimum.
Anyone else get stuck this year? If you know which documents get flagged the most, please share here.
There's a lot of people going through this same cycle right now and nobody tells you anything.
