My husband and I have been married eight years. Two kids. We've had money fights like anyone,
but I always thought we were honest with each other about it.
About six months ago he started getting phone calls late at night.
When I asked, he said it was someone from the office. I let it go.
One evening he was in the shower and his phone kept ringing.
I wasn't planning to check anything, but I saw a conversation on it that stopped me.
He'd been lending money to his cousin for almost a year. Around 1,20,000 rupees in total.
Some of it came out of our household savings, the money we'd put aside together.
And it's not just any cousin. Before we got married he had a crush on her. They even went on a date once.
When I asked him about it, he got angry first. He said he was only helping her, she's family.
The money hurts, but that's not the worst part. I'd asked him about our savings more than once that year,
and every time he told me everything was fine.
He's said sorry since then and promised he won't hide anything again.
But now when he tells me something, even something small, part of me checks whether it's true. I hate that.
I don't want to leave over this. I just don't know how to stop doubting him.
Has anyone here managed to trust their partner again after something like this?
