Every second video in my feed says programmers will be gone in 3 years, and that I should plan accordingly.
Some of them have a million views and a guy in a suit looking very serious.
I'm learning to code, so that's a lovely thing to see at 11 at night after a long day.
It makes me wonder if I'm studying a job that won't exist by the time I finish.
But I use an AI tool every day, and it isn't anything like what those videos describe.
Last week I asked it for a login page, and it gave me the code in 10 seconds.
Then the form didn't submit. It took me 2 hours to find that the tool had named one field wrong.
It was confident the whole time. It never once said, I might be wrong here, check this part.
Someone still had to know what a login page should do, and check that it worked.
That someone was me, and I barely know anything yet. Imagine a bigger project with real users.
My uncle runs a small shop and asked me to build a billing page for him.
I tried the AI route, and I spent more time fixing than I would have writing it myself.
Still, it clearly changes things. A task that took me a day now takes an hour.
I can't tell if that means fewer jobs for juniors, or just different work for the same people.
Those of you who work in this field, has it changed your daily routine? Are companies hiring fewer freshers?
I'd like real answers, not a video from a guy with a thumbnail.
