I bought a refurbished Dell Latitude near Ameerpet 8 months ago. Everyone told me not to. My friends
said refurbished just means somebody else's problem and I'd be back within a month. I'd saved for almost
a year and still couldn't afford a new one with 16GB RAM. So I walked into the shop with
a lot of doubt. It's an i5 8th Gen with 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD. It cost
me a third of a new one. The shopkeeper let me check every key and every port before
I paid anything. I asked for a 6 month warranty and he wrote it on the bill by hand.
I carried it home in my backpack very slowly, like it was an egg. After 3
months the left USB port died. I went back sure he'd say it was my fault. He
took it to the back room and came out 40 minutes later with it fixed. No
charge, no argument. It was covered under the warranty, just like the bill said. That one visit
is the reason I'd shop at that place again. Now it's 8 months in and it
still runs VS Code and Chrome with 20 tabs fine. Battery gives me 4 to 5 hours.
I sit near a socket most days so I don't care. There are a few scratches on
the lid. I stopped seeing them in a week. The fan gets loud when I run 2
projects together. That's my only real complaint. Get the warranty in writing, and ask for a bill
with the shop's name on it. Test every port and the hinge before you pay. Take a
charger and a pen drive along. If you know another shop in Hyderabad you trust for this,
tell me. My brother wants one. Would you buy refurbished again or save up for a new one?
