🎧 Dubbing quality on some shows has genuinely improved a lot lately

Watched a Korean show dubbed in Hindi recently purely out of simple curiosity after normally preferring subtitles myself for foreign language content generally, and was genuinely surprised by how considerably improved the actual dubbing quality seemed compared to my own memory of watching similarly dubbed content just a few years back. The specific voice acting felt noticeably more natural this time around, less of that stiff, overly literal translation feeling that used to genuinely plague a lot of dubbed content previously, where dialogue would occasionally sound technically accurate but somehow completely emotionally hollow compared to how it actually landed in the original source language itself. Mentioned this specific observation to a friend who watches a genuinely large amount of dubbed foreign content regularly herself, and she confirmed noticing the exact same overall improvement, attributing it partly to platforms clearly investing considerably more real budget into the actual dubbing process now, given how much foreign content, Korean shows especially, has genuinely exploded in overall popularity here recently. This makes actual sense given how much more foreign content is currently available generally now compared to just a few years back, platforms presumably have real, growing financial incentive to actually get the dubbing done properly well, rather than just quickly and cheaply the way it might have previously been handled, since poor quality dubbing can genuinely turn viewers away from otherwise genuinely excellent foreign content entirely. That said, quality still genuinely varies quite a bit between different specific shows and platforms, a couple of things I tried more recently still had that same old, stiffer feel to the actual dubbing, so it is clearly not a universal, consistent improvement across absolutely everything currently available, more of a general positive trend that is not yet fully consistent everywhere. Has anyone else noticed this exact same general improvement in dubbing quality recently, and do you personally still prefer subtitles regardless of how genuinely good the actual dubbing itself has actually gotten lately across most platforms?

Watched a dubbed series last week where the lip syncing barely mattered because the voice direction itself carried so much of the weight instead, a completely different experience from dubs I remember struggling through even five years back on that same kind of platform. Whoever is directing these recording sessions now clearly understands pacing and tone far better than whoever was doing it before.
