I found this mystery show about 2 years ago, a whole season already sitting there waiting.
Watched all of it in 2 days. Skipped sleep on Friday. My eyes hurt on Saturday morning.
I loved the people in it. They had real problems and nobody gave speeches.
Then I looked it up to see when season 2 was coming, and it had been cancelled months before.
I felt stupid, like I'd turned up to a party after everyone left.
There were so many loose ends. A locked room, a missing letter, a man who never explained himself.
I scrolled through the comments and some fans had started a petition. A few thousand names, I think.
It went nowhere. A few weeks later nobody even mentioned it.
What gets me is it was just getting good. The last 3 episodes were the best of the season.
Like they'd only just figured out what the show was and then the lights went out.
I told my cousin, who never watches anything, and he stayed up and finished it too.
Now he's annoyed with me. He says I ruined his week by recommending a dead show.
My neighbour says I should be over it by now, it was only a TV show.
She cried for a week when her favourite serial ended in the middle of a story.
So she has no right to judge me, and I told her that on the stairs.
We're fine now. She even asked me what the show was called.
I tried reading what fans think would have happened. It helps a little, but not much.
Reading a summary is like being told the ending of a film you never saw.
Still, I keep a note on my phone with my own guesses for it.
I add to it every few months. Nobody asked me to, I just do.
