Started a fairly heavily hyped new show last year, everyone around me seemed to genuinely love it based on how it kept coming up constantly in conversations, watched the entire first season dutifully myself, and simply never felt any real pull whatsoever to actually continue on to the second season once it eventually came out later.
It was not that the show was genuinely bad exactly, decent production values, competent performances throughout, a reasonably interesting basic premise on paper, but something about the actual pacing or the specific characters themselves never fully hooked me the way it clearly seemed to hook nearly everyone else I actually know personally who watched it around the exact same time.
Tried explaining this specific reaction to a friend who is a genuine, dedicated fan of the show, and she seemed almost personally offended on the show's behalf, insisting the second season genuinely improves considerably on the first and that I was making a real mistake dropping it after just one single season without giving it a proper fair chance to develop further.
Part of me wonders if I simply was not genuinely in the right specific mood or headspace when I originally watched that particular first season, sometimes timing itself genuinely matters more than the actual show's inherent quality when it comes to whether something ends up really connecting with a specific viewer or not in the end.
I do occasionally see this specific show mentioned online still, and feel a small, faint pull to maybe actually revisit it someday, though that pull has honestly never once been quite strong enough yet to actually make me sit down and give it another genuine, proper try since that first attempt.
What is a genuinely popular show you dropped after just one season yourself and never actually went back to, and did you ever eventually give it a proper second real chance later, or does it just permanently stay abandoned at that exact same specific point for you?
