Last year everyone around me was raving about a new show, so I started it
too. I watched all of season 1, 1 episode a night, like I was doing homework.
It wasn't bad. Good acting, nice camera work, an idea that sounded fine on paper.
But I never cared whether anyone in it was okay, and that matters to me. When
season 2 came out I didn't even click on it. Didn't feel a pull at all.
A friend from my college group is a huge fan and she was a
bit offended. She said season 2 gets much better and I was making a mistake.
She said it twice. I said, maybe, and then changed the topic to biryani, which is
how I handle most arguments. Part of me wonders if I just watched it in the wrong
month. That week my phone kept buzzing with work messages and I was half watching, half replying.
Maybe I'd love it today. Timing does strange things to what you like. I still see
people posting about it and I feel a tiny tug. Then it passes. I haven't gone
back, and I don't think I will. It's not a rule, I just never feel like it.
There's a long list of shows I've said I'd start someday and that's where this
one sits, next to 3 others. My friend still sends me clips from season 2
with no message, just the clip, like a dare. I watch them with the sound off.
Nothing so far has changed my mind. So what show did you drop after 1 season while
everyone else loved it? Was it the pacing, the characters, or just the wrong month like mine?
And did you ever go back to it later, after a few months or a few years?
Or is it done for you, filed away with the other 3 on my list?
